Kind of a Blog, I Guess

Today marks 26 years since the North American releases of the Sega Dreamcast and Final Fantasy VIII, both of which are very important to me. 9/9/99 was indeed "the biggest 24 hours in entertainment history" as far as I'm concerned!
Today also marks 16 years since the release of The Beatles: Rock Band. While it's not as important to me as the Dreamcast or Final Fantasy VIII, it was still a huge deal for me and my friends back then. We were in college when it came out, and at the time, we probably spent twice as many hours playing Rock Band as we spent in class or doing homework. I remember staying up until 3:00 AM on 9/9/09 to play The Beatles: Rock Band with my friends in the basement of the student center on campus, being sleep-deprived in class the next day, and then playing some Jet Set Radio that evening to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Dreamcast's launch. Good times!
Anyway, I just thought I'd make a short post in honor of my favorite day in gaming history. I'm planning to finish up a recap of the games I played in 2024 and post that soon, and after that I'm planning to write something about the games I've played so far this year.

Given the ever-worsening state of the Internet and my feelings regarding its decline, I've decided to recommit myself to working on this site and updating it on a regular basis. I'll try to put updates about my life and the media I'm currently reading, playing, and watching here.
The best and most important thing that happened in my life this summer was my ten-day trip to Ireland. I had planned it mostly on my own for several months, and I'm happy to report that everything went well! I had an amazing time, met some wonderful and welcoming people, and saw some beautiful scenery and ancient sites. In particular, I visited the Doolough Valley and Killary Fjord, and I can say that they're the two most beautiful places I've ever been. Although there are many other countries I'd like to visit, I'm now planning to return to Ireland before I go anywhere else. I completely fell in love with it.
On a related note, I've been reading Thomas Kinsella's translation of the Táin Bó Cúailnge. I've wanted to read it for years, and my trip to Ireland inspired me to finally go ahead and buy a copy. I'm enjoying it a lot so far, but I'll hold off on commenting on it until after I finish it.
Anyway, that's all for now! Keep an eye out for more updates here in the future!
