Video Games
Video games have been a huge part of my life as far back as I can remember. I started playing games on my friends' NES consoles as a very young kid back in the early 1990s. The first console I owned was a SNES, which my mother got me for Christmas in 1994 with The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Tetris & Dr. Mario. I followed that up by getting a Game Boy Color (1999), a Playstation (1999), a Dreamcast (2001), a Playstation 2 (2002), a Playstation 3 (2009), a Playstation Portable (2013), and a Playstation 4 (2015). I also own a Nintendo 3DS, but I haven't spent much time playing it yet.
Here are some of my favorite games of all time:
- The Ace Combat series (not including Assault Horizon)
- Bastion
- The Crash Bandicoot series (only the original PS1 games and their N. Sane Trilogy remakes)
- The Danganronpa series
- The Final Fantasy series (my favorite games in the main series are Final Fantasy VIII, VI, VII, X, XII, and V, in that order)
- Final Fantasy Tactics
- Jamestown
- Jet Set Radio
- The Klonoa series
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Life Is Strange
- Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
- The Metal Gear Solid series (MGS1 through MGS3 only)
- The Need for Speed Underground games
- The Persona series (especially P5)
- Portal and Portal 2
- The Rock Band series
- Skies of Arcadia
- Star Ocean: First Departure (SO2 and SO3 are also good, but I enjoy the pacing and the overall experience of playing the first game more)
- The Suikoden series (mostly the first two games)
- Super Mario Kart (that's right, just the OG!)
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
- Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (it's not as good as Final Fantasy Tactics, but it's the only tactical RPG I've played that comes close)
- Tales of Symphonia (perhaps the best RPG of the sixth generation)
- Wolfenstein: The New Order (an excellent FPS)
- Yoku's Island Express (one of the most unique games I've ever played)
